CTL Announces Winner of the December 2006 Bull Dog Award

Mulberry, Fla. — CTL Transportation, LLC is pleased to announce that Homer Roach, professional tractor technician based at CTL’s Mulberry General Office, is the winner of the December 2006 Bull Dog Award. The Bull Dog Award, which is presented to acknowledge an employee’s character, integrity, performance or improvement in performance, is the most prestigious honor recognized at CTL.

Homer, who has been with CTL since May of 1983, earned this month’s Bull Dog Award. During his time with CTL, Homer has worked hard to be a consummate professional. He is reliable, works until the task at hand is done, and works diligently and intelligently to solve a driver’s maintenance troubles. Truth be known, Homer has been working on CTL’s equipment so long, CTL could consider him its resident expert! “He (Homer) has the ability to work on any piece of equipment we have at CTL” said Todd Zellner, CTL’s Shop Manager. In fact, and this is common knowledge at CTL, if you want to know how to fix something, one might research through a manual to find the answer or just ask Homer. He knows.

It should be known that being an expert Technician at CTL is not who Homer is, it is what he does. While he is respected for his knowledge, he is better known for who he is as a person. He trains new coworkers and is a great person to work with. Todd Zellner, who is also a CTL veteran and Bull Dog Award winner himself, has worked with Homer all his 23-plus years at CTL and agrees, “He (Homer) is willing to go above and beyond to assist others…he is helpful in training new coworkers with his outstanding knowledge of the equipment and he is enjoyed by his fellow coworkers.”

We wish to extend a hearty thanks and congratulations to Homer for his many years of service, dedication and professionalism while representing himself and his many coworkers at CTL.

SMITH TRANSPORT Partners with U.S. Army in PaYS Program

Roaring Spring, PA. -- SMITH TRANSPORT, INC., a Pennsylvania-based transportation and logistics company, is announcing a partnership with the U.S. Army to participate in the National Partnership for Youth Success (PaYS) Program, which connects Army soldiers with potential employers prior to military training for employment upon completion of service.

Barry Smith, President and CEO of Smith Transport, states “We appreciate the opportunity to honor, reward and foster U.S. veterans as they enter or re-enter civilian life. Their commitment to work with us at Smith Transport will have a positive impact on economic and workforce development in Blair County.”

SMITH TRANSPORT is the only Pennsylvania based transportation company selected by the U.S. Army for participation. On December 13, SMITH TRANSPORT will host a kick-off event to finalize the partnership and sign the agreement. The event will take place at the company’s corporate headquarters in Roaring Spring, PA.

The partnership agreement provides priority hiring status to qualified soldiers participating in the PaYS Program and ensures their military service time counts towards years of service with SMITH TRANSPORT. Current employment opportunities through the PaYS program include driving, mechanical, clerical, and management positions.

Attendees of the kick-off event are to include the following U.S. Army officers Brigadier General Joseph E. Orr, Lieutenant Colonel Michael Matthews, Captain Jonathan Miller, Staff Sergeant Chris Stapleton, and John Spears. Federal and State officials have been invited, and representatives of Smith Transport will be in attendance.

“Ensuring priority employment to returning Army veterans is an excellent opportunity for us to partner with the Federal government and strengthen the local economy” reports Don Davis, Vice President of Recruiting and Driver Development at Smith Transport.

PaYS was developed to help the Army attract, train, and deploy talented and educated young people who want to serve their country while consecutively securing future successful employment. Under the terms of the partnership, program enlistees spend at least two years in the Army gaining specific job training and qualifications as direct preparation for future employment with SMITH TRANSPORT.

Decker Truck Line Announces Drivers of the Month for November 2006

Fort Dodge, Iowa -- Decker Truck Line, Inc. is pleased to announce that Warren Erxlebren was selected as the November 2006 Driver/Owner-Operator of the month for the Flatbed division. Warren, who lives in New Liberty, Iowa, with his wife, Vicki, started with Decker Truck Line in September of 2005. Congratulations, Warren!

Selected as Driver of the Month for the Reefer/Van division was Rick Lackner. Rick, who lives in Ft. Dodge, Iowa, started driving with Decker Truck Line in March of 1998. He has three kids, Cody, Cheyenne and Triston. Congratulations, Rick!

Drivers and owner-operators are nominated each month by their dispatcher, and are selected based on their overall performance within all areas of the company, including operational productivity, safety record, maintenance/care of equipment (including idle time), payroll and billing and customer service.     If you are a driver who recently graduated from driving school and would like to become a professional driver in as short a time as possible CRST is the company for you. We can give you the time behind the wheel you need to get up to speed. We will provide you with more experience in a few months than you can get with other carriers, and the pay to match. If you are tired of sitting at a rail head waiting to pick up a trailer or tired of making short haul runs to grocery stores to live unload, and you want to run long haul and earn the money that only high mileage will pay, give us a call or check out our website at www.joincrst.com. To offset that we will guarantee that during your time out with a trainer you will get a flat rate of pay. Students whose training was sponsored by CRST will be paid $350 per week. Recent graduates and CDL holders with no experience will be paid $400 per week. This pay begins immediately upon being hired.

    Are you an experienced driver with a spouse, relative, or friend that wants to learn how to drive a truck? With our Train Your Partner Program, your partner can get their CDL training paid for by us and you can train them on the road in one of our trucks.

    This is how it works:

    - Your partner goes through our company paid school program to get their CDL.

    - You both meet up to go through orientation after your partner gets a class A CDL.

    - You go through our lead driver course the last day of orientation to learn our policies and procedures for training drivers.

    - You go out and train your partner for 28 days while getting lead driver pay. Then you both get 5-6 days off at home.

    - After your home time, you head out as a co-driver team: Out for 21 days and Home for 5 days.

    We have a special pay promotion for the Train Your Partner Program. Students coming out of school usually earn $350 per week. With this promotion, the student comes in as a 6 month level driver and earns $.33/mile! This is a highly successful program that is unmatched in the trucking industry!

    We are also currently looking for experienced drivers to staff new dedicated lanes. We currently need drivers in Louisville, KY, Seattle, WA, Newburg, NY, Denver, CO and Newark, NJ.

    Paschall Truck Lines (PTL) congratulates the winners of the April Company Driver and Owner Operator of the Month Awards. Kenneth Starks is the Company Driver of the Month and Leo Massicotte, Jr. is the Owner Operator of the Month.

    Starks is truly a top driver. He has over 30 years of driving experience and 1,400,000 Safe Driving Miles at PTL. He enjoys being a driver because he can see different places and varied weather. When away from work, Starks devotes time to football, baseball and basketball.

    Massicotte is also at the pinnacle of his field, with 13 years experience and 400,000 Safe Driving Miles. He enjoys traveling and scouting out places he’d like to return with his family. While on the road, he once reported a reckless driver and assisted the police by helping block the road. At home, he catches up on his “honey do” list and rides four wheelers. Once he retires, he hopes his son Kenneth will drive for him (son Paul already does)!
