John Christner Trucking Receives SmartWay Excellence Award for Environmental Awareness

John_christner_trucking_2
Sapulpa, Okla. – John Christner Trucking was awarded the SmartWay Excellence Award for its reductions in environmental impact since becoming a SmartWay Transport Partner in 2004.

Every year the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recognizes those organizations that strive to reduce their effects on the environment with SmartWay Excellence Awards. This is the agency’s way of honoring those companies that work hard to take that extra step in helping the environment by participating in the SmartWay Transport Partnership.

Steve Dickson, Vice President of Maintenance was presented with the award on October 22, 2007. “JCT has improved fuel efficiency by 9 percent and saved more than 23 thousand tons of CO2 since joining SmartWay,” says Dickson. “The company is also now working with manufacturers to test three types of automatic tire inflation devices to help ensure that drivers can be easily notified of tire pressure.”

JCT is constantly taking measures to upgrade and improve its fleet of trucks. They have invested in a broad range of fuel saving technologies and policies including auxiliary power units, engine shutdown technologies, aerodynamic equipment, engine speed management and advanced lubricants.

“The changes we’ve made not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but they have also lowered the fuel cost for our Lease Operators along with extending the engine life on our equipment,” says Dickson. “Simply put, the SmartWay program makes sense. With today’s increased pressures to hold cost in line and protect our eroding natural resources, this voluntary program works. I encourage everyone in the transportation industry to seriously consider the benefits of becoming a SmartWay Partner,” he adds.

John Christner Trucking primarily focuses on truckload transportation, specializing in temperature controlled cargo. JCT operates equipment yards in Oklahoma City, Fort Worth, Los Angeles and San Leandro, California with drop trailer pools at shipping locations throughout the U.S.
JCT pays for permits, taxes, tolls and much more giving drivers the freedom and independence being an owner operator can offer.
