Employee owners at Big G grow value of their company even during tough economy
Shelbyville, TN. -- Big G Express, Inc., headquartered in Shelbyville, Tenn., recently announced their ESOP Stock Value increased 94 percent – a number unheard of in the Tennessee motor carrier industry and in the nation during this tough economy.
One of the nation’s premier providers of transportation services, Big G has grown to over $60 million in annual revenues since its founding in 1995 and is on target to meet its current growth goals for 2011.
Big G ESOP Trustee Steve Thompson said, "Big G employees are doing things right! A good year for a typical ESOP company is usually a 10-25 percent increase with 25 percent being a great accomplishment. Big G’s 94 percent stock value increase is truly phenomenal!”
During July, the Big G employee owners will be celebrating their accomplishments with events at each of the facilities including the Shelbyville headquarters plus locations in Deason, Mt. Juliet, and Russellville, Tenn., as well as Clarksville, Ind.
The ESOP provides a fully funded retirement plan without requiring employee monetary contributions – employees contribute directly to the profitability of Big G Express by being 100 percent committed to customer service, efficiency and safety. The ESOP provides every employee a real stake in the success of the company.
President Randy Vernon kicked off the Big G EMPLOYEE OWNERSHIP Celebration last year along with Chairman Pat Marsh and Recruiting/Retention Manager Terry Conquest.
“Today, Big G Express provides truckload, warehousing and logistics services to customers nationwide with over 480 employee owners who are dedicated to keeping Big G strong, profitable and safe,” said President Randy Vernon. “Our employee owners take personal responsibility in delivering excellence to our customers every day. Through the tough times of the last three years, we grew our company – adding trucks and creating jobs when many of our competitors were parking trucks and cutting employees. I am proud to say that we have never had a layoff, never cut pay, never cut benefits. The fact that we were able to grow and prosper in the worst of times speaks volumes about the commitment of our people to doing things right. In June, our company provided fuel and performance bonuses to our professional drivers totaling over $40,000 -- and more bonuses will be issued in December."
