Maverick Transportation, on behalf of the 4th Annual Brad Scott Memorial Golf Tournament, recently presented the American Heart Association (AHA) with a check for $9,000 to help fight heart disease and fund prevention programs.
Maverick was able to more than double last year’s donation which will be split between two AHA causes, the Go Red for Women Movement and The Heart Walk. The Go Red for Women Movement is designed to empower women to take charge of their heart health and provides education and resources to improve the health and well-being of women across the country. The Heart Walk raises funds to fight heart disease, while simultaneously promoting the importance of physical activity.
The Brad Scott Memorial Golf Tournament, which honors its namesake, has been a way to carry on the memory of the company’s former VP of Sales and at the same time raises money for the AHA in hopes of preventing this same type of tragedy. Brad Scott died of a sudden heart attack in 2007, shortly after celebrating his 20 year anniversary with Maverick.
