FORT DODGE, IA. -- Decker Truck Line, Inc. is pleased to name Lyle Grate as the August 2008 driver of the month for the Reefer/Van Division. Grate has three children and three grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys air shows and reading. Joey O’Brien, Grate’s dispatcher had this to say, “I can’t say enough about Lyle. He just likes to work. We have a great communication system and he takes care of me and I take care of him. He is always very polite and respectful, not only to me but to everyone in general. Lyle really knows the industry. He’s truly a driver all dispatchers wish to have.”
Ron Nielsen was selected as Decker Truck Line’s August 2008 Owner/Operator of the Month for the Flatbed Division. Nielsen and his wife Donna have been married for 39 years, have two children and four grandchildren. Nielson likes to farm, ride motorcycles and spend time with his family when he’s not driving for Decker. “Ron has been a very good driver for Decker Truck Line, works hard and does a good job for the company. He also has been very easy to work with,” says Sue Anderson, Ron’s dispatcher.
Congratulations to both August Drivers of the Month. Drivers and owner-operators are nominated monthly by their dispatcher. They are selected based on overall performance within all areas of the company, including operational productivity, safety record, maintenance/care of equipment (including idle time), payroll, billing and customer service. All drivers and owner-operators selected as a driver of the month will be eligible to be chosen as Driver/Owner-Operator of the year.
