Decker Truck Line Honors January Drivers of the Month

Decker
FORT DODGE, Iowa -- Decker Truck Line, Inc. recently announced their Drivers of the Month for Janury 2008. Willie Kester was selected for the honor from Decker’s Flatbed division, and Dale Hartman received the award for the Reefer/Van division.

Willie became an owner-operator with the Decker family in March 2002, and before that was a long-time driver with Umthun Trucking. Jerry Chapman has dispatched Willie for many years, both at Decker and at Umthun. “Willie is a hard worker,” said Chapman. “He will run just about anywhere and also runs weekends if needed.”

Willie and his wife Dorothy live in Fort Dodge, Iowa. They have three daughters, Tamara, Patrisha, and Sarah. Willie loves to play with his grandkids when he is not busy at work, and also enjoys fixing up his ’84 Monte Carlo.

Dale started with Decker in January 2003, and as his dispatcher Marcia Goodale says, “…he’s been a valuable asset every day since.” She appreciates his hard work. “Dale is willing to go anywhere and help whenever needed,” Goodale said.

Dale’s hard work and dedication is exactly why this is not the first Driver of the Month nomination Dale has received.

Dale and his wife Sharon reside in Eldora, Iowa. When Dale is off work his favorite activity is spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Each month at Decker, dispatchers nominate drivers and owner-operators based on overall service and performance for that month. Operational productivity, safety records, maintenance/care of equipment (including idle time), payroll and billing, and customer service, are evaluated for each driver nominee to determine who is most deserving of the honor.

Each monthly award winner from December 2007 through November 2008 is eligible to receive the award for 2008 Driver (or Owner-Operator) of the Year.
