The Perfect NASCAR Weekend Getaway Sweepstakes sponsored by Barr-Nunn and Trucker’s Connection

Barrnunn_transportation
Miami, FL -- Barr-Nunn Transportation continues its partnership with Roush Fenway Racing and this time teamed up with Trucker’s Connection to send a winning driver, and guest, on an all-expense paid trip to the Ford 300 at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. The winning driver was Robert Blanton. This race was the culmination to Barr-Nunn’s 2007 NASCAR sweepstakes promotion. The year was definitely successful and all the winning drivers have had such a great time at each different NASCAR race.

Mr. Blanton sums up his experience as “fantastic!” Robert used this opportunity to bring his wife, Penny, as his guest. Escorted by Jim Pardoe, Barr-Nunn’s driver representative, and Megan Cullingford from Truckers Connection, the pair enjoyed an eventful weekend with surprises around every corner.

Mr. & Mrs. Blanton settled in at the luxurious Biltmore Hotel, where there was “too much to see in such a short time.” Barr-Nunn took care of expenses for the hotel. The night before the race, the couple enjoyed dinner in a fine restaurant within their hotel, where they were pampered with exquisite service, and strolled around town to take in its landscaping. They admired the Spanish style houses around the area and then called it a day to prepare for the events on Saturday.

On Saturday, Robert and Penny watched the races and enjoyed being close enough to take amazing pictures. As close as they were, the two were hesitant to ask for autographs from any drivers except one, Jennifer Jo Cobb. According to Robert, “they didn’t want to disrupt them because they were busy at work.” They did manage to get lug nut souvenirs due to Jim Pardoe’s effort to go “above and beyond” his call to duty. “Jim knew all the ins and outs,” Robert mentioned. “We had passes to see the Busch cars, but not the cup cars,” he explained. “But he got us into see the Cup cars and the haulers!” It seems Jim knew all the tidbits to make the experience even more “over-the-top” than it already was.

In short, Mr. & Mrs. Blanton were extremely thankful for such an opportunity. Both are very big racing fans, but they have never had the opportunity to attend a race, nor have they even flown on a plane. They send thanks to Barr-Nunn & Jim Pardoe as well as Truckers Connection & Megan Cullingford for such a great experience.

Troopers crack down on overweight trucks

MARS HILL, N.C. – So far this year, state troopers have found tractor-trailers carrying a total of 23.3 million pounds in excess weight on Western North Carolina roads, fetching about $1 million in fines.

More than 1,600 trucks have been put out of service for violations, records show.

“When you see numbers like that, it makes it pretty apparent that overweight trucks are a problem in Western North Carolina,” N.C. Highway Patrol Sgt. Pat Staggs said Tuesday. “If the truck is overweight, there are a lot of factors, as far as the stopping distances, damage to roadways and bridges, those sorts of things.”
