DAVID RAGAN FINISHES 18TH AT DOVER INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY

Roush
DOVER, DE – David Ragan ran his second Busch Series race of the 2006 season at Dover International Speedway on Saturday afternoon.

Ragan qualified 23rd on Saturday morning after running 12th and 7th during the first and final practice sessions on Friday afternoon.

The Dover 200 got underway around 3:00pm EDT. After five laps Ragan radioed to his team to report that the car was a little free up off of the corners, but he thought that he just needed to get into a rhythm and he would be alright.

With several cautions coming out during the first laps of the race the team toyed with the idea of coming down pit road. Ragan told crew chief, Drew Blickensderfer that he would prefer to not make any changes yet since they had not gotten many green flag laps in. He was concerned that they might go the wrong way with adjustments and he did not need to lose any rear grip.

The No. 50 Barr-Nunn Ford finally came down pit road on lap 38 for fresh tires, fuel and a slight wedge adjustment. Ragan headed back out in 23rd position and was determined to work his way forward.

On lap 120 the No. 50 team had an excellent pit stop which really improved the performance of the car and put Ragan back out on the track with a gain of six positions.

He was running 17th when a caution came out on lap 145. Ragan told the team that the car was too free through the center, knowing it would improve if he could get some longer runs, but not helping on the shorter ones.

Finally on lap 157 Ragan came down pit road and the crew dropped the track bar enough to improve their performance on the shorter runs.

This stop put Ragan back out in 22nd position. He fought his way through some traffic and crossed the finish line in 18th place.

“It was a good night for the No. 50 Barr- Nunn Team. I wish we could have gotten the car right a little sooner, but overall a decent finish for us. These guys did an excellent job building a good race car and I really wanted to get it up front for them. Drew and all the guys in the pits did an awesome job. I had a great time working with all those guys this weekend and hopefully I will get another chance to run some races in the Busch Series in the future.”

The No. 50 team will compete next at Kansas Speedway on September 30th in the Yellow Transportation 300.
